Scenography
The Lalique Museum in Wingen-sur-Moder is set within the glass-making territory of the Northern Vosges, where René Lalique chose to establish his factory in 1921. The permanent exhibition presents his entire body of work, including jewellery, drawings, perfume bottles, tableware, glass creations, and up to the present day, showcasing production, manufacturing processes, and the people of the Lalique Factory. The scenography presents the works and products within “worlds” of images, sounds, and texts that correspond to the various periods of creation by René Lalique and his successors. The exhibition space is structured by the arrangement of display cases and the orientation of more immersive modules. In a dark ambiance, light contributes to the perception of the space and the works through a play between precisely focused lighting inside and outside the display cases, the backlighting of images and display backgrounds, the brightness of projections and the large final screen wall, and the natural brilliance of a few large windows offering views of the mineral garden and surrounding landscape. The image wall at the end of the exhibition showcases the people of the factory and their craftsmanship through a composition of magnified images: creation, hot working, cold working, etc. Over 650 works trace the career of René Lalique and his
successors.
